About Chyro Arts

Dear Family, Friends, and Supporters of Chyro Arts:

With mixed emotions, we are announcing the closure of Chyro Arts Venue, effective May 16, 2010.  We are planning a final night of music to celebrate three awesome years together on or around that date.  Please keep an eye out for announcements regarding dispersion of some of our props, costumes, scenic, and all the other things that go into a theatre company.

There were many factors involved in this decision.  Ultimately, however, we were recently put in a financial position not of our making that heavily cost both Chyro and us founders, and impaired our ability to negotiate a satisfactory new lease.  Not wanting to ask for any more funding from our supporters than we have already, the decision to take the opportunity to leave the space and regroup was deemed our best course.  Now it’s time to talk about starting families, pursuing new careers, and supporting other arts in Phoenix ourselves.

O
ur last theatre production is ORANGE FLOWER WATER, directed by Michael Peck.  Please come out and see us off with this outstanding show, and continue to check out our music scene, as *we will be open and running full-tilt from now through May 16.*

Joy, Michael, and I  - and speaking for our awesome board of directors, Mitch, Kit, and Tachi - cannot express our gratitude enough for everyone who has stood by Chyro financially, emotionally, and physically.  We’ve made great friends, seen lives change, and had a blast doing it all.  We hope you have enjoyed our time together as well!

We encourage you to continue or begin supporting other local venues such as Stray Cat Theatre in Tempe and Nearly Naked Theatre in Phoenix, as well as your local art galleries, museums, and music venues.

If you have any questions, please address them to our email at chyro@chyro.org.

Once again, thank you, and God bless.

~ Tom Leveen,
Artistic Director
